Huffington Post

The design team collaborated with social and technology teams to develop a scalable branded content platform solution as a new business opportunity with several package tears offering the technology and editorial tools necessary to develop any media business. Early adopters were Oprah, Heidi Klum, Ellen Degeneres, Queen Latifah, and Marlo Thomas and international sites.

Modular components

Modular components

The Huffington Post was looking to expand their news content with lifestyle topics catered to reach and engage much more of a women’s audience. In doing so, they recognized a need to change their traditional time based newsy blog into a more flexible topic based layout that provided a clear visual heirarchy. Working closely with the development teams, we evolved their current cms platform into a template based design that enabled editors to create content groupings by topic and the flexibility to publish engaging modules.

Integrated video player

Integrated video player

The Huffington Post was looking to create their own video player to increase monetization through video streams. We created a single video player that would integrate with their editorial cms and the AOL video distribution platform. This player integrated all the social network components and viewable on any device.

Robust slideshow tool

Robust slideshow tool

The new slideshow design would consolidate 4 different slideshow design options into one unified experience in the cms and throughout the site. The new tool would also improve the image quality and compression rates, provide a responsive full screen view, and a multitude of new crop sizes. This tool also simplified the user experience for the social component which included a rating tool  and the ability to upload your own photos as an editorial option.
